Our Opportunity
As our Staff Full Stack Engineer, you will design and build AI-driven chat experiences that power Agoda’s AI Assistant, trip planning and discovery, customer support flows, and proactive recommendations. You’ll work closely with engineers, data scientists, and product managers to define, build, and scale the next generation of AI solutions that make travel planning more intuitive, personalized, and effortless for millions of customers worldwide.
We’re looking for a visionary Full Stack architect with a strong hands-on mentality — integrating innovative AI capabilities and rapidly validating ideas through experimentation. You will create measurable impact on traveler experience and business outcomes, while upholding Agoda’s standards for privacy, reliability, and the responsible use of AI.

The Impact You’ll Make
- Lead full-stack architecture and system design for features used by millions of customers
- Own complex end-to-end systems — from React-based frontend to backend microservices — and mentor high-performing teams
- Design and evolve Backend-for-Frontend (BFF) layers that aggregate downstream services into optimized, UI-friendly contracts
- Guide technical decisions across several squads, driving engineering excellence
- Collaborate with Product and Design to deliver cohesive, user-centered solutions at scale
What We’re Looking For
- 8+ years of experience in software engineering (web, backend, or full stack)
- Frontend: Hands-on proficiency with React and its ecosystem — Next.js (SSR/SSG), TypeScript, state management (Redux, Zustand, or similar), component libraries, and build tooling (Webpack/Vite)
- Backend: Expertise in Java, Kotlin, or .NET; comfort designing microservices and REST/gRPC APIs
- BFF / middleware: Experience building and owning Node.js/TypeScript BFF layers that sit between frontend and core services, including API aggregation, response shaping, and auth handling
- Solid understanding of frontend performance fundamentals: Core Web Vitals, code splitting, lazy loading, and rendering strategies (CSR vs SSR vs ISR)
- Familiarity with testing approaches across the stack — unit, integration, and E2E (Jest, Cypress, or Playwright)
- Proven experience leading end-to-end architecture on high-traffic platforms
- Track record of technical mentorship, cross-team collaboration, and solving ambiguous problems
