Staff Technical Product Manager-Vehicle Logistics
Here at Scout Motors, we're carrying forward the heritage of one of the most iconic American vehicles in history. A vehicle dating back to 1960. One that forged the path for future generations of rugged SUVs and trucks and will do so once again.
But Scout is more than just a brand, it’s a legacy steeped in a culture of exploration, caretaking, and hard work.
The Scout brand is all about respect. Respect for the past and the future by taking an iconic American brand that hasn’t been around for a while, electrifying it, digitizing it, and loading it with American innovation. Respect for communities by creating a company that stands for its people and its customers. Respect for both work and play, with vehicles that are equally at home at a camp site, a job site, or on a Tuesday commute. And respect for our customers by developing two powertrains that meet their requirements — an all-electric powertrain as well as the Harvester™ range extender powertrain which includes a built-in gas-powered generator with an estimated 500 miles of combined range.
At Scout Motors, we empower our talented, inclusive, and entrepreneurial teams to innovate. What makes a Scout employee? Someone who is a visionary and a leader, who seeks new paths and shares lessons learned. A knowledgeable doer who collaborates across the company to build better. A go-getter with unrivaled passion.

Join an iconic brand redefining the direct‑to‑consumer automotive experience. As a Staff Technical Product Manager focused on Vehicle Logistics, you will play a pivotal role in building the system platform that tracks every vehicle from production through delivery to its final destination.
You will own the product strategy and execution for our in‑house logistics system and third‑party integrations that support real‑time vehicle visibility and ETA accuracy from the factory, carriers, regional hubs, and retail endpoints.
This role is critical to the end‑to‑end customer journey. Vehicle ETAs are a foundational input to the order experience, checkout flow, customer communications, delivery planning, and operational execution. You will operate at the intersection of logistics operations, engineering, data, and external partners to ensure reliable, scalable, and transparent vehicle tracking across our network.
This role addresses key challenges in vehicle visibility and ETA accuracy, including fragmented data across multimodal logistics partners, inconsistent tracking signals, and limited end-to-end transparency for customers and internal teams. A highly strategic and deeply technical individual contributor role, it requires comfort with complex system integrations, ambiguous logistics workflows, and high impact decisions that directly affect customer trust and operational efficiency.
What you’ll do
Become part of an iconic brand that is set to revolutionize the electric pick-up truck & rugged SUV marketplace by achieving the following:
Define and Lead Vehicle Logistics Product Strategy
- Own the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for vehicle logistics tracking and ETA computation across the direct‑to‑consumer order‑to‑delivery lifecycle.
- Partner closely with adjacent teams responsible for order management, customer communications, and delivery execution.
- Define how internal operational tools, an external logistics system, and frontend experiences work together to provide end‑to‑end vehicle visibility.
- Translate business goals (delivery promise accuracy, customer transparency, operational efficiency, cost control) into clear product outcomes and prioritized initiatives.
- Partner closely with Logistics Management and Operations to shape scalable and executable plans.
Own Logistics Systems & Third‑Party Integrations
- Lead integrations with third‑party logistics providers (carriers, yards, ports, rail, last‑mile partners) to ingest real‑time vehicle status and movement data.
- Define product requirements for vehicle event tracking, location updates, handoffs, exceptions, and milestone completion.
- Serve as the primary product counterpart for external logistics partners, aligning APIs, data contracts, SLAs, and implementation timelines.
- Ensure integrations support near‑real‑time updates and accurate downstream ETA calculations.
ETAs and Visibility
- Own the systems responsible for calculating, updating, and exposing vehicle ETAs throughout the customer journey.
- Ensure ETA logic accounts for production, transportation mode changes, dwell time, congestion, and operational exceptions.
- Partner with UX Design and Customer Experience teams to make vehicle tracking and delivery timelines clear, trustworthy, and actionable for customers.
- Balance transparency with uncertainty, ensuring customers receive timely updates without over‑promising.
Internal Tooling & Operational Enablement
- Define internal tools and workflows that enable logistics, sales, delivery, and customer support teams to:
- View real‑time vehicle status and location
- Understand ETA confidence and risk
- Manage exceptions, delays, and reroutes
- Communicate proactively with customers
- Deeply understand frontline operational pain points and design tooling that reduces manual work while improving accuracy and speed.
- Ensure systems support auditability, traceability, and operational decision‑making at scale.
Cross‑Functional Leadership
- Collaborate closely with engineering, logistics operations, supply chain, analytics, customer experience, and leadership teams.
- Act as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders, clearly communicating tradeoffs, dependencies, risks, and business impact.
- Align internal teams and external partners around shared delivery and visibility outcomes.
Technical & Platform Stewardship
- Partner with engineering to deliver scalable, event‑driven, and resilient logistics platforms.
- Influence architectural decisions related to data ingestion, event processing, state management, and downstream consumption.
- Ensure vehicle tracking data flows reliably across order management, customer communications, and operational systems.
Operationalize & Measure Success
- Support rollout and iteration of logistics capabilities across markets and delivery models.
- Define and track KPIs such as ETA accuracy, arrival forecasting, on‑time delivery rate, delay frequency, exception resolution time, and partner performance.
- Use data and operational feedback to continuously improve vehicle tracking and delivery confidence
Location & Travel Expectations:
- The role will be based out of a Scout Motors location in Fremont, California.
- This role requires 4-5 days per week in the office, with regular in-person meetings and events.
- Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.
What you’ll bring
We expect all Scout employees to have integrity, curiosity, resourcefulness, and strive to exhibit a positive attitude, as well as a growth mindset. You’ll be comfortable with change and flexible in a fast-paced, high-growth environment. You’ll take a collaborative approach to achieve ambitious goals. Here's what else you'll bring:
- 8+ years of product management experience, with a strong emphasis on technical platforms or complex system integrations.
- Demonstrated success delivering logistics, supply chain, fleet, order‑to‑delivery, or real‑time tracking systems in automotive, DTC, ecommerce, or industrial contexts.
- Experience working directly with third‑party logistics providers or transportation systems strongly preferred.
- Direct‑to‑consumer vehicle sales or delivery experience is a plus but not required.
Technical Expertise
- Strong understanding of system architecture, APIs, event‑driven systems, and data integration patterns.
- Experience with platforms such as order management systems, logistics or fleet management systems, ERP, or data pipelines.
- Comfort collaborating deeply with engineering teams on technical tradeoffs without acting as an engineering manager.
Skills
- Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence across product, engineering, operations, and executive stakeholders.
- Strong product judgment and data‑driven decision‑making ability.
- Ability to manage uncertainty, operational complexity, and external dependencies while maintaining a customer‑first mindset.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related field, though demonstrated experience in real-world product development is far more critical.
