Staff Technical Solutions Engineer
About OpenLoop
OpenLoop was co-founded by CEO, Dr. Jon Lensing, and COO, Christian Williams, with the vision to bring care anywhere. Our telehealth support solutions are thoughtfully designed to streamline and simplify go-to-market care delivery for companies offering meaningful virtual support to patients across an expansive array of specialties, in all 50 states.
About the Role
As a Staff Solutions Engineer, you’ll serve as the technical bridge between our product, engineering, and customer teams. You’ll design and implement end-to-end solutions that help our partners integrate, deploy, and scale our technology to meet their unique needs. You will work across web and backend services, APIs, data workflows, and cloud infrastructure. But the differentiator at this level is judgment, not throughput. You are the person who takes the ambiguous, high-stakes partner implementation that nobody has solved before, decides the approach, and carries it through to a working system that the rest of the team can maintain and repeat.
You will operate with full autonomy, drive initiatives that span multiple teams, and act as a trusted technical advisor to Product, Engineering, Clinical Operations, and our partners.
What You'll Do
Serve as the accountable technical owner for a portfolio of strategic partner accounts from discovery through production and ongoing operation.
Lead technical discovery directly with partner engineering and executive stakeholders, pressure-test stated requirements, and translate them into a scoped, sequenced system design with a realistic delivery plan.
Set and defend the timeline, escalate early when the plan is at risk, and communicate scope trade-offs clearly to stakeholders instead of absorbing them silently.
Act as the final escalation point for the hardest production and integration failures, drive them to root cause, and close the systemic gap so the class of problem does not recur.
Instrument the solutions you own so their health is measurable, and report on reliability, performance, and delivery against the commitments you made.
Lead post-implementation reviews and turn the findings into changes to the playbook, not just a document.
Provide technical direction and design review to Solutions Engineers across the team, including senior engineers, and raise the quality bar through review rather than rework.
Mentor engineers on architecture, debugging, and stakeholder judgment, and make the case for their growth in leveling conversations.
Write and maintain the documentation, runbooks, and internal enablement that let other teams operate what you built without you in the room.
Represent Solutions Engineering in cross-functional planning, roadmap reviews, and technical decisions that reach beyond your own projects.
Reduce single points of failure, including yourself. Work is not finished until someone else can run it.
Who You Are:
8+ years in software engineering, solutions engineering, or a closely related discipline, including demonstrated ownership of systems in production. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent practical experience. Healthcare, health tech, or B2B SaaS background strongly preferred.
Track record of leading multi-team or multi-quarter technical initiatives end to end, where you set the direction rather than executing someone else's design.
Deep, hands-on fluency across the stack: front-end web development, backend services, API design and integration, relational and non-relational data stores, event-driven and distributed systems, and cloud infrastructure.
Genuine expertise in at least one domain deep enough that colleagues route hard questions to you, plus enough breadth to be effective outside it.
Operates with extreme ownership. Takes the ambiguous problem without being assigned it, and does not hand it back half-solved.
Influences without authority. Gets alignment from engineers, product managers, clinicians, and partner stakeholders who do not report to you.
Communicates with precision to both technical and executive audiences, and can move between an architecture review and a partner escalation call in the same hour.
Improves the system, not just the ticket. Leaves behind patterns, documentation, and standards that outlast the project.
Curious and pragmatic about new technology, with the discipline to distinguish what is genuinely better from what is merely new.
Passionate about turning ideas into working solutions that deliver measurable impact
