Systems Administrator (Singapore)
The D. E. Shaw group seeks a motivated systems administrator with an impressive record of academic and/or professional achievement to join its Systems team. This team partners with groups firmwide to deliver support, automation, and management fora wide variety of enterprise technology, including a sophisticated Windows and UNIX desktop/server environment, cutting-edge storage and clustered computing solutions, several communications platforms, and state-of-the-art equipment. The role offers the chance to work directly with end users, address technical challenges, and contribute to a collaborative and engaging work environment.
What you'll do day-to-day
• Provide hands-on, in-person support, including PC hardware, peripheral, and software deployments, mobile device management, videoconferencing and AV equipment, trading floor support, and occasional datacenter work.
• Partner with global teams and vendors to identify, diagnose, and resolve both technical and non-technical issues.
• Be responsible for a variety of support and project work across a wide range of technology, including but not limited to Windows PCs and servers, UNIX servers, mobile devices, and an advanced communications infrastructure.
• Support and project work may include troubleshooting complex technical issues, administration of various infrastructure-level systems, and implementing automation and efficiency improvements.
What we're looking for
• Demonstrated interest in building technology and helping others use it effectively.
• Proven research and analytical skills to resolve unfamiliar problems, improve processes, and advance challenging work.
• Knowledge of the Microsoft Windows enterprise environment and standard applications, such as Microsoft 365, and familiarity with general systems administration, including hardware and software administration and phone, desk-side, trade floor, AV, conferencing, event, and/or remote user support.
• Well-developed interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills for working with global colleagues across a broad set of backgrounds, experiences, and projects.
• Proficiency in Python, PowerShell, and/or other scripting languages is a plus, as is experience working in a Linux environment.
• Ability to work on-site five days a week (Monday through Friday) with occasional overtime and weekend assignments.
• A willingness to occasionally travel to our Hong Kong and Shanghai offices. As interaction with Mandarin-speaking colleagues and stakeholders is to be expected, working proficiency in Mandarin is preferred.
