Tax Manager - Private Equity

Work You'll Do

As a Tax Manager, you'll provide tax compliance and advisory services to investment management clients. You'll analyze complex issues, develop and implement solutions aligned with client objectives, and serve as a trusted advisor through every stage of the engagement. You'll perform high-level reviews of tax research, partnership workpapers, allocations, and tax filings. You'll prepare and lead client meetings focused on compliance, tax planning opportunities, and the tax implications of significant transactions.

You'll lead client relationships, manage engagement workflow, oversee billing and profitability, and coordinate resources to deliver high-quality work. You'll also train, mentor, and supervise Tax Consultants and Tax Seniors, providing feedback, career guidance, and support for their continued development.

In addition to client delivery, you'll contribute to marketplace eminence and pursuit activities that strengthen Deloitte's Investment Management Tax practice and support its growth.

Qualifications

Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or other business-related field
  • 5+ years' experience providing tax planning services or preparing and reviewing client work papers and income tax returns
  • 3+ years' experience with investment management or partnership taxation
  • One of the following active accreditations obtained:
    • Licensed CPA in state of practice/primary office if eligible to sit for the CPA
    • If not CPA eligible:
      • Licensed Attorney
      • Enrolled Agent
      • Certifications:
        • Chartered Financial Advisor (CFA)
        • Certified Financial Planner (CFP)
  • Experience managing projects including scheduling, budgeting, client correspondence, and billing
  • Ability to perform job responsibilities within a hybrid work model that requires US Tax professionals to co-locate in person 2 - 3 days per week
  • Ability to travel up to 25%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve
  • Limited immigration sponsorship may be available

Preferred
  • Previous Big 4 experience or large CPA firm equivalent
  • Knowledge of fund accounting and general ledger accounting
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, team environment

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $123,000 to $205,000.

You may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
