Tech People Partner
About the role and team
Working at Uber means solving hard problems in a high-stakes, fast-moving environment where you’ll need to take ownership, stay adaptable, and build with both urgency and care. As a People Partner, you will operate as a trusted advisor and consultant to management and employees across a hyper-matrixed environment, navigating the "messy reality" of people matters without a predefined script.
The challenge here is real—you will face constant ambiguity and the weight of making hard calls under real-world constraints. We are looking for a resilient, resourceful professional who is energized by complex problems and motivated by having a tangible impact on the millions of people who rely on the Uber platform every day.
What you’ll do
- Provide direct support and coaching to leaders on performance management, accommodations, and business conduct, often unblocking complex roadblocks with imperfect information.
- Analyze data and daily project activities to identify patterns and trends, turning technical "messiness" into actionable insights for continuous process improvement.
- Navigate cross-functional dynamics with teams like Rewards, Employee Relations, and Legal to resolve sensitive people matters and influence outcomes without direct authority.
- Lead the execution of regional and global people priorities, balancing the urgency of short-term needs with the long-term strategic vision of the organization.
- Own the performance review lifecycle for your area, ensuring high standards for talent assessments and coaching managers to have tough, honest conversations.
- Maintain deep functional knowledge of employment laws and policies to ensure compliance while moving fast to support a business that never stops.
Basic Qualifications
- 5 + years of professional experience as an HR generalist, advisor, business partner, or HR project manager.
- Bachelor’s degree in an HR-related field or equivalent professional experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years of related HR experience, ideally within a global or high-growth technology company.
- Proficiency in English with a strong foundation in HR concepts and principles.
- Proven ability to build credibility with senior stakeholders and influence decisions using data-driven storytelling.
- Advanced proficiency in Spanish or Japanese to support cross-regional collaboration.
- Experience navigating high-ambiguity environments and managing complex, multi-team projects.
