Technical Account Manager
The Plant is a Tokyo-based professional services firm. We blend commerce-systems
engineering, applied AI and Japan operational craft. We work with leading brands and
hire top talent who can handle a high degree of freedom and ownership. We are hiring a
Technical Account Manager to lead enterprise B2C e-commerce engagements
end-to-end. You’ll be the primary point of contact for the client, the operational lead
for the delivery team, and the person responsible for translating between business
intent and technical execution.
What you’ll do
- Client ownership. Serve as the primary client contact by managing relationships, expectations, and commercial scope with senior stakeholders in Japanese and English.
- Delivery leadership. Run project planning, staffing, budgets, risk, and quality across multi-disciplinary teams (engineering, QA, product, design).
- Requirements and process. Lead requirements gathering by translating client business needs into clear, actionable specifications for the delivery team.
- Technical judgment. Make and defend technical trade-offs at a level sufficient to collaborate with architects and senior engineers.
- Stakeholder communication. Maintain alignment across both client and internal leadership.
What we’re looking for
Requirements
- Technical foundation- Background in computer science, engineering, or proven hands-on technical work. You understand how systems work: APIs, integrations, data flows, release processes.
- eCommerce systems understanding- You understand how e-commerce systems work together technically (from platform/agency work, in-house brand experience, or integration management).
- Client-facing consulting experience- You’ve managed complex client relationships, and delivery outcomes.
- Native level Japanese and working proficiency in English.
Preferred
- Prior experience in digital transformation engagements or product-adjacent roles.
- Experience with contract negotiation.
- Experience with using AI to improve daily workflows, prototyping and / or coding.
