Outside Sales Representative – Fluid Power Components, Systems & Controls (PA/NJ)

At Berendsen, one of North America’s largest distributors of hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrification products and services, we’re redefining what technical sales looks like. We’re seeking a driven Field Sales Representative who thrives on building relationships, solving problems, and applying mechanical know-how to complex customer challenges across Eastern Pennsylvania and New Jersey. This is a "roll-up-your-sleeves" technical sales role focusing on providing total fluid power solutions—ranging from complex systems and power units to everyday hose and fitting components—to a diverse mix of small-to-mid-sized OEMs and large industrial end-users.

The Territory

• Coverage: Eastern Pennsylvania (Philadelphia/Lehigh Valley/Scranton) and all of New Jersey.
• Key Markets: Mobile and Industrial equipment OEMs, industrial manufacturing, and heavy infrastructure.

This is more than sales—it’s about creating value and helping OEMs and industrial customers move their ideas forward.

What You’ll Do

• Build, grow, and manage customer relationships across your territory, becoming a trusted partner and advisor.
• Identify opportunities by listening deeply, asking smart questions, and uncovering how our solutions can drive customer success.
• Apply a structured sales process to technical opportunities—prospecting, qualifying, closing, and expanding accounts.
• Develop and execute territory growth strategies that align with both customer needs and company goals.
• Collaborate with engineers, procurement teams, and operations to specify the right products for new applications.
• Stay informed on market conditions, competitor activity, and industry trends to anticipate future customer needs.
• Leverage value-based selling (economic value added, system efficiency, reduced downtime) to differentiate Berendsen from the competition.
• Work closely with vendor partners and internal specialists to deliver complete solutions.

Who You Are

We know the best people don’t always follow a straight path. You might not come from the hydraulics world—but if you bring mechanical aptitude, problem-solving ability, and sales process discipline, we’ll give you the technical training.

• Strong business development instincts—you know how to find opportunities and move them through the pipeline.
• Mechanically inclined—comfortable talking shop with engineers, technicians, and operators.
• Competitive and driven, with a strong work ethic and the resilience to handle long sales cycles.
• A natural relationship-builder with strong communication and listening skills.
• Curious and willing to learn—especially about hydraulics, electrification, and control technologies.

Preferred (but not required):

• Experience in industrial/OEM sales or specifying mechanical/electrical products.
• Fluid Power certification or 3+ years of technical product specification experience.
• Mechanical engineering or technical degree.

What You Need

• A valid driver’s license and good driving record.
• Ability to travel throughout your territory.
