Technical Project Manager

About Lumilens

At Lumilens, we are building the critical photonics infrastructure powering tomorrow’s AI supercomputing. From chip-to-chip optical interconnects to scalable photonic engines, Lumilens is unlocking a new era of computing—faster, cooler, and massively more efficient.

We’re a well-funded startup backed by Mayfield and led by veterans who have built and scaled transformative technologies in the industry. At Lumilens, we’re developing high-speed photonics products designed to power the future of AI infrastructure and high-performance computing.

This is a ground-floor opportunity to rethink the optical layer from the silicon up. You’ll collaborate with a world-class team of engineers tackling the hardest automation and manufacturing challenges in photonics. If you’re looking for mission, momentum, and the chance to make an outsized impact, join us on the rocket ship. We’re just getting started.

About the Role

This is a senior, high-impact role within Lumilens’ SiliconOperations team, responsible for driving the end-to-end execution of complex process development and manufacturing readiness programs across photonics, advanced packaging, optical module assembly, and external manufacturing partners.

The Technical Project Manager will partner closely with internal engineering teams, OSAT partners, quality, and operations to ensure critical process milestones are delivered from development and DOE through qualification, pilot build, and high-volume manufacturing release.

The ideal candidate is hands-on, highly technical, and comfortable operating in a fast-moving startup environment where strong program ownership, cross-functional alignment, andd ata-driven decision-making are essential to scaling next-generation optical interconnect technologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Working with internal & external stakeholders to ensure effective end to end process FMEA, Design for MFG and controllability,
  • Overall schedule management on process development, DOE, qualification, pilot run and release to HVM.
  • Working with respective process engineers on specific process requirements, delivery & performance.
  • Working with OSAT QA to ensure the site & process meet the quality & reliability requirements, including but not limited to effective line & process audit, process control, change control, MRB.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or above in Mechanical, Electrical/Electronic,Mechatronics, Materials Science, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related engineering discipline; advanced degree is a plus.
  • 8+ years of hands-on process engineering experience in semi conductorpackaging, optoelectronics, optical transceiver/module assembly, microelectronics, SMT, or precision automation manufacturing, preferably in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
  • Strong technical depth in one or more core assembly processes, including die attach/die bond, wire bond, active optical alignment, optical module assembly, dispensing, curing, bonding, or end-to-end line integration.Proven experience owning process development from concept through qualification, pilot build, production release, and sustained high-volume manufacturing ramp.
  • Solid understanding of process FMEA, DFM/DFx, control plans, change control, MRB, process audits, and quality/reliability requirements in a manufacturing or OSAT environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of DOE, SPC, Cpk/process capability, yield analysis, defect Pareto, root-cause failure analysis, and structured problem-solving methodologies such as 8D or DMAIC.
  • Experience defining process windows, equipment requirements, recipes,SOPs, work instructions, qualification plans, and production controlstrategies.
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including process engineering, product/design engineering, manufacturing, quality, equipment engineering, suppliers, and external manufacturing partners.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex technical discussions, drive alignment across stakeholders, and make data-driven decisions under schedule and ramp-up pressure.
  • Hands-on, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced startup or scale-up environment with evolving processes, tools, and priorities.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present technical findings, risks, trade-offs, and recommendations clearly to both engineering and leadership audiences.
