Technical Project Manager 2 (TPM 2) - Nuclear Facility Construction (DOE/LANL)
Location: Los Alamos, NM | 100% Onsite (TA-55)
Assignment Duration: Up to 5 years, with possibility of extension/conversion
Schedule: 4/10s, adjusted to align with field install work schedule
On Call / Overtime: Yes, as required

Clearance: Active DOE Q Clearance required (must already hold); A-Level Access required
Per Diem / Relocation: Not offered
Travel: As needed based on work location and project assignment
Mandatory Requirement: Candidates must have experience managing project or construction activities in a DOE, NRC, or NNSA Hazard Category 2 type facility with high security/classification protocols and requirements, and must hold an active DOE Q Clearance. Candidates without this experience or an active Q Clearance will not be considered.
WHY THIS ROLE
The Technical Project Manager 2 (TPM 2) supports and manages discrete technical construction scope at Los Alamos National Laboratory, ensuring timely completion of all project elements within a DOE Hazard Category 2, Security Classification 1 facility. This is a backfill position supporting 30B, 30R, PEI2, and MIE Non-Diamond scope under the ALDPI / PI-PROJ / LIP / Late Installs organization. You will manage project activities in alignment with Triad's prime contract, NNSA, and DOE 413.3B requirements, working within control accounts and work packages that define tasks necessary to meet programmatic objectives.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee technical requirements and manage project deliverables, budgets, schedules, and risks
- Support, and at times lead, the project team in planning, tracking, and executing scope from initiation through turnover
- Manage project activities in alignment with Triad's prime contract, NNSA, and DOE 413.3B requirements
- Report to the Manager of Projects (MOP) and oversee day-to-day administrative and operational management of an assigned project/program area
- Develop, implement, and evaluate policies, procedures, and standards related to construction and work execution within a nuclear facility
- Support development and monitoring of program budgets
- Provide technical guidance to project teams, support departments, and matrixed resources
- Coordinate and communicate effectively between representatives of construction, operations, and support organizations, including radiological control, criticality/nuclear, and occupational safety
- Support active D&D, construction, testing, and turnover activities performed under Nuclear Quality Assurance-1 (NQA-1) requirements
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and 5 years of directly related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation
- Prior nuclear facility and/or laboratory experience required
- Recent and relevant experience with security/classification protocols in a DOE and/or NNSA setting where active D&D, construction, testing, and turnover was performed under NQA-1 requirements
- Extensive experience working compliantly within strict nuclear security and classification environments
- Active DOE Q Clearance required
- Ability to obtain A-Level Access
PREFERRED BACKGROUND
- Prior construction experience, particularly supporting work in a nuclear facility
- Work planning and controls experience
- Effective coordination and communication between construction, operations, and support organizations such as radiological control, criticality/nuclear/occupational safety
- Prior experience, operations or project related, in a DOE or NNSA laboratory setting
WORK ENVIRONMENT
