Test Automation Engineer

Position Summary

The Automation Engineer will serve as the primary testing authority and strategic lead within the Data Tribe. This role is responsible for ensuring the quality, integrity, and reliability of data flowing through the Data Hub and across the various integrated systems and applications within the tribe's ecosystem.

The successful candidate will need experience in technical testing expertise with a comprehensive understanding of data architecture and automation. They will be tasked with not only guaranteeing that data delivery meets business and technical standards but also with optimizing QA workflows and implementing automation solutions to improve scalability and delivery quality.

Key Responsibilities

Testing Strategy & QA Leadership:

• Act as the primary testing authority for the Data Tribe, defining and driving the end-to-end testing strategy for all data-related projects.
• Design and implement comprehensive test plans covering functional, integration, regression, performance, and UAT.
• Optimize QA processes and workflows to increase test coverage and reduce operational costs and testing time.
• Align testing activities across multiple roles within the tribe to ensure seamless communication and full requirement coverage.

Technical Execution & Data Validation:

• Develop and execute advanced SQL queries to validate complex data migration, transformation (ETL), and loading processes within the Data Hub.
• Perform deep-dive data validation (Source-to-Target) to ensure consistency, accuracy, and completeness across disparate source systems and target applications.
• Analyze data mappings and technical specifications to create detailed, high-coverage test cases.
• Conduct rigorous backend and database testing to ensure data integrity and system stability.
• Build and maintain automation solutions and scripts to reduce manual regression effort and improve operational efficiency.

Technical Experience:

• Experience: experience in QA Engineering/Technical Testing, specifically within data-centric environments (Data Warehouses, or Data Hubs).
• SQL: Mid to Expert - level proficiency in SQL for complex data validation and integrity checks.
• ETL & Backend: Strong expertise in ETL testing methodologies and backend system validation.
• Automation: Hands-on experience for building custom automation scripts.
• API Testing: Proficiency with API validation concepts and tools (e.g., Postman).

Domain Knowledge & Methodologies:

• Deep understanding of data modeling concepts and data architecture.
• Proven experience working within Agile SDLC frameworks.
• Proficiency with project management and documentation tools: Jira, Confluence, Git, and IDEs.

Soft Skills:

• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with a high attention to detail.
• Ability to communicate complex technical discrepancies to non-technical business stakeholders.
• Proactive leadership approach to problem-solving and process optimization.

Preferred Qualifications

• ISTQB Certification (Advanced Level Test Analyst).
