UX Designer

JOB OVERVIEW

Plan A Technologies is looking for an experienced UX Designer to help evolve a live casino table-management platform. You will design the on-table dealer experience: the touchscreen Dealer Display and Dealer Antenna interface that dealers use in real time to run player sessions, process buy-ins, fills, credits, and chip transactions, and manage seats and tips at the table. This is high-stakes, transaction-heavy enterprise software operating in a regulated gaming environment, where clarity, speed, and error prevention directly affect the accuracy of every transaction on the floor.

The ideal candidate is comfortable designing for purpose-built hardware and complex operational workflows rather than typical consumer web apps, and enjoys the challenge of making dense, money-critical interactions feel simple and glanceable for a dealer working at pace. You will play a pivotal role in both new capability design and the modernization of an established product.

Please note: you must have at least 5+ years of UX design experience, specifically in enterprise or operational software environments, to be considered for this role.

JOB RESPONSIBILITY

  • User & domain research: Work with dealers, pit supervisors, and casino operations stakeholders to understand real table workflows, edge cases, and pain points; translate findings into actionable design decisions.

  • Design for real-time, transactional workflows: Design flows for buy-in, change, credit, fill, transfer, redemption, issue-token, and tip transactions where accuracy, confirmation, and error recovery are critical.

  • Design for glanceability and speed: Create layouts that a dealer can read and act on at a glance during live play, prioritizing legibility, clear state, and low cognitive load on a compact on-table touchscreen.

  • Handle complex state and player models: Design interactions across rated, known, and anonymous players; seat and position management; and independent vs. shared bets, keeping the interface coherent as state changes.

  • Error prevention & recovery: Design confirmation, validation, and mismatch/variance flows (e.g., scan-and-verify chip counts) that catch mistakes before they become transaction errors and guide the dealer to correct them.

  • Wireframes, mockups & prototypes: Produce wireframes, mockups, and interactive prototypes that clearly communicate flows and behavior to product and engineering.

  • Cross-functional collaboration: Partner closely with product managers, engineers, and QA to ship user-centered solutions that are technically feasible on the target hardware.

  • Usability testing: Plan and run usability tests, ideally in realistic table conditions, and iterate designs based on dealer feedback and observed behavior.

  • Information architecture: Organize menus, position tiles, and transaction screens so navigation and information flow are intuitive under time pressure.

  • Design system & consistency: Contribute to and maintain a design system so patterns stay consistent across the Dealer Display, Dealer Antenna, and related reporting screens.

  • Modernization of legacy screens: Help refresh and rationalize existing screens and interactions as the product evolves, improving usability while respecting established dealer muscle memory.

  • Accessibility & readability: Ensure designs meet appropriate accessibility and readability standards for varied lighting, viewing angles, and on-floor conditions.

EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field is preferred.

  • 5–10 years of UX design experience, specifically in enterprise or operational software environments.

  • Experience designing for complex, transactional, or data-dense workflows where accuracy and error prevention matter (e.g., POS, financial, logistics, industrial, kiosk, or other operational systems).

  • Experience designing for touchscreens, embedded devices, or purpose-built hardware is strongly preferred; casino, gaming, or regulated-industry experience is a plus.

  • Comfort working on both new capability design and the modernization of an established/legacy product.

  • A strong portfolio showcasing a range of UX projects, highlighting problem-solving skills and design thinking processes.

  • Expertise in design and prototyping tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, or similar.

  • Proficiency in user research methods including interviews, contextual inquiry/observation, and usability testing.

  • Familiarity with agile development methodologies.

  • Knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript is a plus.

  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills, with the ability to articulate design decisions and collaborate effectively with team members.

  • Excellent teamwork skills and the ability to maintain a positive work attitude.

  • Great attention to detail.

  • Initiative and drive to do great things.
