Warehouse Manager

You will lead a highly automated, robot-supported Goods-to-Person (G2P) warehouse environment, overseeing inbound, storage, picking, packing, and outbound activities. You will ensure that operations run safely, efficiently, and accurately while meeting customer and business requirements.
This hands-on leadership role combines people management, operational control, data-driven performance management, and continuous improvement. You will work closely with internal teams and external partners, including IT, maintenance, robotics system providers, transport partners, and customer service.
1. Warehouse Operations
- Lead and manage day-to-day warehouse operations across inbound, storage, picking, packing, and outbound activities.
- Ensure warehouse capacity, staffing, and resources are effectively planned to meet operational demand and customer SLAs.
- Monitor operational performance and take timely action to address bottlenecks, backlogs, and exceptions.
- Ensure the G2P system, including robots, workstations, and tote flows, supports operational targets.
- Maintain high standards of safety, quality, productivity, and operational discipline.
- Manage operational priorities and reallocate resources when required to maintain service levels.
2. Performance & Continuous Improvement
- Own key warehouse performance indicators and drive continuous improvement across operational processes.
- Analyze operational data to identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and root causes, and implement sustainable improvements.
- Optimize warehouse processes, layout, station utilization, labor productivity, and error rates.
- Plan and manage peak periods through capacity planning, forecasting, and contingency measures.
- Ensure inventory accuracy through effective cycle counting, reconciliation, and exception management.
- Monitor and improve system availability and operational continuity in collaboration with relevant technical teams.
3. People Leadership
- Lead, coach, and develop warehouse employees to achieve operational and business objectives.
- Plan workforce requirements, shift allocation, overtime, and resource deployment.
- Set clear performance expectations and follow up on individual and team performance.
- Ensure effective onboarding, training, and knowledge development within the warehouse team.
- Build a culture of accountability, collaboration, safety, and continuous improvement.
- Maintain strong team engagement, especially during peak periods and operational challenges.
4. Stakeholder Management
- Work closely with IT, maintenance, robotics system providers, transport partners, customer service, and other internal stakeholders.
- Coordinate the resolution of operational, technical, and system-related issues.
- Escalate critical incidents appropriately and ensure timely follow-up and resolution.
- Maintain effective communication between warehouse operations and supporting functions.
- Build constructive relationships with external logistics and technology partners.
5. Operational Control & Decision-Making
You will maintain close control of warehouse performance by regularly reviewing operational dashboards and key metrics, including:- Inbound and outbound volumes
- Throughput and productivity
- Robot availability and system performance
- Station utilization
- Operational backlog
- Order and picking accuracy
- Inventory accuracy
- Labor productivity and cost
- Safety performance
Where required, you will have the authority to:
- Stop or restrict operations when necessary to protect safety or operational stability.
- Adjust operational priorities and resource allocation across warehouse activities.
- Escalate critical incidents to IT, Engineering, Maintenance, or robotics system providers.
Experience & Qualifications
- Proven experience in warehouse or logistics management, preferably within an automated or semi-automated warehouse environment.
- Experience leading warehouse teams and managing daily operational performance.
- Strong understanding of warehouse processes, including inbound, storage, picking, packing, and outbound operations.
- Experience working with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and operational reporting tools.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to use data to identify root causes and drive improvements.
- Experience with automation, robotics, or Goods-to-Person warehouse systems is highly desirable.
- Strong workforce planning and resource management skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to combine strategic thinking with hands-on operational leadership.
- Strong command of English; Dutch is a plus.
