Mechanical Designer
Your Opportunity
As a Mechanical Designer you will work with close guidance and supervision on tasks and smaller projects, and as a team member of a larger project under the guidance of a senior engineer/designer. You will be designing HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection systems, mainly for municipal and industrial water and wastewater treatment plants, hydroelectric power stations, storm mitigation facilities, and other industrial facilities in different locations across North America. You will participate in the evaluation, recommendation, and specification of engineered systems or products for a project. You will assist in verifying compliance with applicable codes and engineering standards/practices.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Perform general HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection design tasks using knowledge of relevant software programs.
- Work with other engineering disciplines and professionals in the coordination of the project under the direction of senior engineer/designer.
- Perform field work as directed by a senior engineer/designer.
- Perform basic calculations to analyze and design HVAC components using company standard software and proprietary manufacturer software.
- Assist with preparation of drawings, presentations, and reports.
- Assist with engineering duties on projects of various complexity.
- Assist with collecting data and gathering information to support design decisions.
- Assist in basic interpretation of and verifying design compliance with applicable codes and engineering standards and practices.
- Perform other duties as assigned by senior engineering staff.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Understanding of drafting/design tool such as AutoCAD and Revit.
- Understanding of Microsoft Office
- Basic understanding of Trace 700, Trace 3D, or HAP for heating load calculations.
- Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought.
- Understanding of mechanical engineering concepts and ability to effectively communicate ideas to others.
- Ability to interpret sketches, drawings, building program and other similar material.
- Ability to take direction, follow process and accept feedback and suggestions from senior engineers/designers.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience.
