At SNAHC, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $26.00/HR-$28.00/HR.

Position Summary:

The Community Health Program Coordinator (PROGCO) reports to the CH Administrative Services Manager. This is an integral position to the operations of grant programs focused on planning, developing, improving, and delivering mental health prevention activities and treatment services to Native American youth and their families. Working collaboratively with the CH Administrative Services Manager, the Program Coordinator will be responsible for leading, coordinating and ensuring execution of required activities for suicide prevention programming. This position will receive training and support from the evaluation team to fulfill these responsibilities.

Essential Functions:

  • Organizes and facilitates culturally responsive programs, groups, interventions related to mental health, trauma, grief and loss, and substance use and alcohol prevention.
  • Leads planning committee for the SNAHC Gathering of Native Americans (GONA) project.
  • Establishes, expands, facilitates and sustains initiatives, programs, and/or partnerships that engage key stakeholders and community members (e.g. local tribes, American Indian education programs etc...) in order to address community health priorities.
  • Coordinates community based education activities that support healthy lifestyle choices and promotes positive behavior change.
  • Supports appropriate staff in planning, implementation and evaluation of community programs and events.
  • Responsible for conducting educational classes based on best practice curriculum in the areas of Mental Health First Aid, Suicide Prevention, and other trained prevention capacities.
  • Effectively uses mental health initiatives and modalities in support of prevention and treatment as related to youth, families, and community.
  • Supports administration and operations of the various targeted prevention frameworks and community activities aimed at suicide prevention among AI/AN youth, families, and partners.
  • Conducts cultural training and organizes and delivers presentations as requested by SNAHC partners.
  • Assists with the planning and preparation and participates in community-based events such as: health fairs, pow wows, conferences, and trainings as needed.
  • Ensures SNAHC services are delivered in a culturally appropriate manner.
  • Complies with all state and federal laws and regulations, as they pertain to position including; HIPAA, sexual harassment, scope of practice, OSHA, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Specific knowledge of youth prevention strategies in alcohol and other drug prevention, tobacco use, risk reduction, and healthy behaviors, expected.
  • Desire to work closely with youth and families.
  • Familiarity with Family-Driven and Youth-Drive Care such as family and youth experiences, their visions and goals, their perceptions of strengths and needs and their guidance about will make them comfortable steer decision making about all aspects of services and service design, operation, and evaluation.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Must maintain a professional demeanor and the ability to respectfully represent SNAHC in the community.
